Cablote scientifically named as Guazuma Ulmifolia is a medium sized tree normally found in pastures and disturbed forests. The plant is native to the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico and Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina, Paraguay, And Brazil. The Maya tribe used the leaves as supportive treatment during delivery, to treat digestive disorder, asthma, dysentery, diarrhea, wound and fever. In Guatemala, the plant is used as an anti-inflammatory agent, for gastric and stomachache, and its leaves are used to make tea to relieve fever.
